Born
and raised in the Colorado mountains, I created imaginary friends. They
kept me company as I rode the mountain trails astride my ornery little
horse. My mind created stories to fill the silent expansiveness around
me; however, my attention soon turned to books, works by Mary Roberts
Rinehart, Poe, Edgar Cayce, and many others. My imaginary
friends
faded as new friends and interests took their place at the one-room
school I attended until entering high school.
My first
by-line was in my high school newspaper, where I was co-editor. My
appetite for the world of letters evolved into an addiction. Curiosity
took me to live in Denver, Aspen, San Francisco, and New York.
Obtaining a degree in business, I have worked for architectural firms
and interesting non-profit organizations involved with cultural
preservation and public television. As president of my professional
organization, I conducted seminars and spoke to large audiences. Over
the years, I’ve worked with a paperback publisher, taken
writing workshops, including those at The New School in New York, with
Joanne Greenburg at the University of Colorado, and others.
I’ve written many short stories, a few novel drafts, and The Brodick Follies,
the first of a trilogy. I’m married to a Cuban-born
designer-artist and collaborator, Eduardo Cervino.
